What is Latisse?
Latisse is actually a version of a glaucoma drug in the form of eye drops called bimatoprost. The glaucoma drug was observed, by doctors and their patients, that their eye lashes had significant growth; from this observation Latisse was created. Latisse gradually encourages growth of darker, longer, and thicker lashes, but is not meant to be applied to the lower eyelid. The popularity of Latisse has also grown significantly since the FDA approved it in December of 2008, also several celebrities have been promoting the product.

How does Latisse work?
According to studies done Latisse darkens, lengthens, and thickens eyelashes. Latisse decreases the growth phase of eyelashes and increases the number of hairs that sprout. So, you get more eyelashes in a quicker time than you normally would. Many have raved about Latisse since it’s been on the market and is often used as opposed to other volume-boosters.
How is Latisse applied?
Latisse is applied by dabbing it on the upper lash line once per night with the sterile applicator provided. Before application, the face must be clean, and any make up or contact lenses must be removed. It is heavily advised that each applicator be discarded after one use as that might encourage bacteria to affect your lashes and your eyes. Latisse is not applied directly to the lower lashes, however, it is applied indirectly as you blink.
How long does Latisse take to work?
Very much like other medications the results of Latisse are not instant. Effects of Latisse is not immediate, results from the treatment should begin to show as early as 8 weeks after usage has begun. Latisse works as long it is used consistently, this means if you stop using Latisse your eyelashes will gradually return to their state before using Latisse. After some months of the recommended application, Modern Surgical professionals will assist patients on a reduced application of the treatment. If you have any questions or concerns about how Latisse works, you can reach out to us for your consultation or feel free to do further researched. Ewe want all our patients to be informed and ready for this and any procedure we offer at Modern Surgical Arts of Denver.
Who is a candidate for Latisse?
Latisse is safe for most people but you may be excluded as a candidate if you have eye problems such as uveitis and conjunctivitis, severe allergies, skin injection, or you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant. You want to ensure that your surgeon is made aware if you have any of these issues or is pregnant.
When a patient comes in for a consultant regarding Latisse, the Modern Surgical Arts professional will ensure the patient in not using IOP-lowering medications. This is important because Latisse’s active ingredient lowers intraocular pressure. If you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to get pregnant we recommend that you start Latisse treatments after.
When is the best time to apply Latisse?
The manufacturer of Latisse recommends applying the treatment at night, most likely shortly before bed. Applying the solution at least one hour before you plan to go to bed the solution will have enough time to soak into the skin. Although it is designed and recommended for night use there is no problem with applying the solution during the day. You should apply Latisse before applying other skincare products and provide at least fifteen minutes for it to dry and be fully absorbed by your skin before applying any products or make up.

Latisse should be stored in a convenient location away from direct sunlight. It’s recommended that Latisse be stored in a room with temperatures between 36 degrees Fahrenheit and 77 degrees Fahrenheit – for instance a bathroom medicine cabinet. Are there products that do the same job as Latisse?
A number of companies are coming out with their own line of lash products to compete with Latisse, and though some are effective to a point, none have been proven to provide the same result as Latisse. Latisse has proven to be and still continues to be one of the top options for getting thick and full eyelashes.
Why Choose Latisse?
Latisse is proven to be a safe and effective boost for eyelashes. Despite our ages, we lose eyelashes every day. As we get older, our eyelashes lose volume. Also, how we treat our eyes and eyelashes wear and tear these sometimes quicker than gaining does. It might be you go to sleep with make-up or do clean around the eye areas properly. You might rub your eyes or use expired products. These all result in loss of eyelashes. Latissse, with continued use, resolve this for you.
Additionally, you don’t have to worry about always wearing mascara. For some, they never wear fake eyelashes again. Say bye bye to glues that sometimes rip your eyelashes out. Latisse is the most natural solution as you are not putting anything in or covering your eyelashes very temporarily. It can’t just be washed off. Your voluptuous eyelashes are yours to keep for as long as you continue with Latisse.
Also, eyelashes are not just merely to make a fashion statement, but these play a crucial part in protecting your eyes from offending particles. Latisse is an effective way of ensuring your eyelashes are intact and enough to keep protecting the windows to your soul.
How to Care for Your Eyes?
You may have taken eye care for granted. Even before you use Latisse, you should ensure that you take care of your eyes and by extension, your eyelashes. This care type should be included in your skin care regime. You want to ensure:
- You clean the areas around your eyes properly with a solution that won’t irritate that area.
