Many of our patients are curious about the recovery time of a cosmetic surgical procedure at Modern Surgical Arts of Denver. On average recovery is 7-10 days but this depends on what procedure was done. All our operative care is designed to minimize recovery time so you can get back on your feet quickly. This guide is designed to help you understand what to expect and how to plan for your surgical after-care.
Take Your Time
We recommend you focus on recovery for the first 10 days while limiting work and activity. Whichever type of anesthesia you choose, the key to a great recovery is diligently following all the post-operative instructions even if you’re feeling no pain. We believe details matter and our patients have great experiences because they pay attention to the small things. We make sure to be consistently detailed when we see and treat you, and we count on you to follow our detailed instructions at home.
Things to Do for a Speeding Recovery
- Take over the counter pain medications as directed.
- Rest and relax.
- Prop your head up, keeping it above your chest.
- Use ice packs for the first 48 hours, then warm compresses intermittently thereafter.
- Consume lots of fluids to stay hydrated.
- Avoid strenuous activity, smoking, drug use.
Our patients take over the counter pain medications along with muscle relaxers during the first part of the recovery period. This approach, combined with our holistic vitamins, helps to manage any scarring and optimize the healing process.
As healthcare professionals, we understand the value and urgency of relieving pain among our patients. Simultaneously, we are well aware of the opioid crisis that is daily permeating our news sources and wreaking havoc in the lives of so many families and communities as people become addicted to prescription painkillers. Recent studies have shown that opioids are not as effective as their less habit-forming counterparts: Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. We strive to inform our patients of the proven effectiveness of over-the-counter painkillers and refuse to prescribe opioids unless absolutely necessary.
As part of our holistic approach to medicine and the overall health and wellbeing of our patients, we offer lymphedema massage to encourage the movement of lymph fluids around the body. This practice serves to remove toxins from bodily tissues while reducing swelling and improving circulation.
We offer a variety of in-house scar repair treatments, including laser therapy, a painless and safe solution which improves collagen production and alignment. Stimulating new, healthy skin growth by penetrating outer layers, lasers make scars less uncomfortable and noticeable. This can be combined with our holistic products to reduce any presence of scars.
We offer additional scar therapy products and education on how they can make a difference in your healing.
