Labiaplasty

At Modern Surgical Arts of Denver in Highlands Ranch, CO, we know that many women are unhappy with the appearance of their labia, which is why our goal is to normalize the conversation around labiaplasty. If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your labia, know that many women feel this way; but there is a solution. We offer a simple and effective procedure that can help women feel more confident in more ways than one.

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure specifically designed to reshape the labia minora or labia majora, the tissue that surrounds both sides of the vaginal opening. This procedure can also address imperfections of the labia that make women feel self-conscious, including asymmetry.

This procedure can address a number of specific concerns regarding the labia, and we can customize it to reduce the length of the labia and help women achieve other goals so that they no longer have to feel self-conscious or embarrassed about imperfections.

A Procedure That Improves Aesthetics and Confidence

This procedure is designed to improve the aesthetics of your labia, but more importantly, it’s designed to increase and maintain your confidence. There’s no shame in undergoing this procedure. We want you to feel confident and comfortable; this procedure can make all the difference in intimacy and your daily life moving forward.

What It Treats

Labiaplasty can address a number of different aesthetic and medical-related concerns. While it is primarily designed to improve the aesthetics of the area and can ultimately help women feel less self-conscious about the size of their labia, it can also resolve the pain that comes from the twisting and tugging of the labia that can result from excess skin, as well as itching and irritation.

If you struggle with some of these concerns, you’re probably well aware of how they also negatively affect sexual activity. If the shape or length of your labia has caused you pain during intercourse, we can also use this procedure to address that condition.

Distinguishing Between Normal and Irregular

Contrary to what has been portrayed by the media, all labia are not and are not meant to look identical. It’s completely natural for labia to differ, but in some cases, labia can appear irregular. An irregular labia can cause pain and discomfort and can make wearing undergarments and performing certain physical activities, even walking, painful or uncomfortable.

If these normal daily events are causing you pain due to the size or shape of your labia, we can use this procedure to change that. Once you achieve your desired results after your procedure, you can expect to have increased comfort, contentment, and confidence.

What To Expect From Your Pre-Surgical Consultation

If you’re interested in undergoing a labiaplasty or at least learning more about the procedure, the first step at the initial consultation. Your initial consultation is so important because it gives you the opportunity to meet with our double-board-certified cosmetic surgeon. During this consultation, you’ll be able to discuss your goals and desired outcome and ask questions about the procedure.

Learning Your Treatment Goals

Our goal is to use this time to inform you about every aspect of labiaplasty so you can schedule your procedure with complete confidence in the surgeon, procedure, and process. Your surgeon will describe the procedure and available surgical methods to help determine which is best for you and give you realistic expectations about the results and its long-term benefits.

Your surgeon will also evaluate your labia and find out more about any limitations, previous injuries, or surgeries to the area. You’ll be asked to provide your complete medical history at this time, since we will need a comprehensive understanding of your current and past health to make the best surgical recommendations for you.

Customizing Your Procedure

We offer two primary types of surgical methods when performing a labiaplasty to help women reach their goals. The most common method is called the trim procedure. The trim procedure involves the removal of extra tissue from the labia and then using dissolvable sutures to stitch the area. We also offer the wedge procedure in which the surgeon removes a wedge-shaped segment of tissue to maintain the naturally located border of the area.

Your surgeon may also reduce the extra fold of the clitoral hood at this time, if needed, using absorbable sutures to do so. Both of these different procedures can help women achieve different goals, and your surgeon can determine which one is right for you at your initial consultation.

Preparing for Your Procedure

Once you undergo your initial consultation, learn more about the procedure, and confirm your eligibility, your surgeon will design your surgical treatment plan and schedule your surgery. There are some ways that you will need to prepare for your surgery to ensure the best possible results. We will give you some important pre-operative information that you should follow.

It’s important that you have someone who can drive you to and from your procedure. We also advise patients to take a week off of work following the procedure to focus on rest and healing. Living a healthy lifestyle in the weeks leading up to your procedure is also extremely important because it will prepare your body for the healing process and ensure that it has everything it needs to recover quickly.

How To Prepare

Optimal preparation includes eating a healthy diet, ensuring adequate hydration, and focusing on quality sleep. Maintaining these healthy lifestyle habits before and through your recovery will be key to ultimate healing and can even accelerate your recovery.

Ensuring that you have the right foods, a proper resting area, and someone to help you at home with errands and normal daily activities will also help promote a quick recovery. • Understand the restrictions regarding eating and drinking
  • Stay hydrated
